Today (Mar. 10) the San Francisco 49ers announced that linebacker Patrick Willis is retiring.
The 30-year-old only appeared in six games in 2014 before having to undergo toe surgery.
Last November, Willis acknowledged that he had been suffering from chronic pain in his left big toe for years.

From 2011-13, the seven-time Pro Bolwer was one of the key reasons that the 49ers were able to reach three consecutive NFC championship games.
Willis has played all eight years of his NFL career with San Francisco.
