The “Golden Rule” for someone who goes to the gym on a regular basis is to not eat an hour before and after your workout. If you eat before, you might be too full to feel like working out. If you eat after, you are causing an increased blood flow to your stomach rather than letting the blood circulate through your body to areas you’ve just worked out.
Secret: You don’t want to go to the gym on an empty stomach. Your body needs energy, and definitely don’t want to leave the gym early and cut your workout short because your stomach is growling. Eat a piece of fruit on the way to the gym such as an apple or banana. It’s light and the sugar will help give you an energy boost before the pump.
