The 40-year-old New York Yankee, Derek Jeter, is rounding the halfway point on his final season and to honor the Yankee legend Nike is preparing a farewell tour for one of the company’s longest sponsored athletes and the first Jordan Brand-endorsed baseball player after his signing with the company in 1999.
This year marks Jeter’s 20th season in the MLB and the Jordan Brand released a new, star-stuffed tribute titled RE2PECT on Monday to pay homage to him. “It’s a moving tribute for a guy who made it through baseball’s most turbulent era without an arrest or a PED scandal.”
The ad will run in its entirety during Tuesday’s game while a 60-second version will run throughout the summer. In the video, everyone from Jay Z, Phil Jackson, Carmelo Anthony, Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan and more are seen tipping their cap, paying respect as Jeter takes the All-Star stage for the last time. Even Boston fans and Mets players are featured paying respect to the baseball legend. So be sure to tip your cap to Yankee captain, who’s been their leader for more than 10 years, and the five-time World Series champion.
