The Pittsburgh Pirates?!

That’s right. ESPN’s Buster Olney predicts that the Pirates will win the 2015 World Series. But why?

Sure, the Pirates have come a long way. They made the Wild Card in 2013 and 2014, but to win the World Series? Get outta here.

We all know that Andrew McCutchen is the man. And PNC Park is stunning. Yet to say that the Pirates – who are currently .500 in Spring Training – will win the whole thing is a little nuts.

Did Olney forget that the Central Division isn’t going to be so easy to compete in this season? Not only do the Bucs have to contend against the St. Louis Cardinals, but the Chicago Cubs will be gunnin’ for both these squads this year.

Is it crazy to say the Pirates could win? No. But to say they will? Yes.

Sorry Pittsburgh, Olney must have lost a bet or something.
