Things got heated in the Superdome on Sunday (Dec. 7) during the New Orleans Saints and Carolina Panthers game.
In an embarrassing 41-10 loss, the Saints (5-8) now have lost four straight at home, as the Panthers (4-8-1) preserve their playoff hopes in the NFC South.
But the blowout isn’t what has people talking. In the first quarter, starting quarterback for the Panthers Cam Newton scored a 2-yard touchdown which helped put the Panthers up 17-0.
After celebrating the TD with his signature “Superman” pose, Newton was shoved in the back by a Saints player. Newton immediately turned around to get in the guys face, which lead to the brawl.
After the brawl the Carolina Panthers took to Twitter.
Football is an emotional and passionate game. #CARvsNO

After the game, Curtis Lofton, the player who shoved Newton, said, “It was taunting. I saw it as straight disrespect and I did what I thought I had to do.”
