The Indianapolis Colts have cut running back Trent Richardson, but is he due $3 million?

After recently signing former San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore, there was simply no need for the third overall draft pick bust.

Richardson had a pathetic season-high 77 rushing yards on 14 carries in 2014, but to the Alabama standout’s defense, a hamstring injury in 2014 did impede the running back from getting back in full swing.

The 24-year-old’s guaranteed salary for 2015 is $3.1 million, but the Colts can void that payment if Richardson was suspended. Richardson was suspended for the AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots after he missed a walkthrough.

Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star reported that Richardson missed the walkthrough because of “serious complications with his girlfriend’s pregnancy that could potentially have endangered the life of the child.” Adding that the reason for the suspension was that the running back “failed to contact team officials about his absence in a timely manner.”

Reports say that Richardson will likely file a grievance to collect the $3.1 million that he feels that he is guaranteed.

With plenty of teams looking to make moves with the free agency in gear, hopefully T-Rich will land a third team to play for.
