Bud Selig, the outgoing MLB commissioner, said Sunday (Jan. 18) that St. Louis is the “best baseball town in America.”

The commissioner made the bold statement at a dinner hosted by the St. Louis chapter of the Baseball Writers of America. He was in town receiving the inaugural Red Schoendienst Award.

The St. Louis Cardinals are a stellar organization. The Red Birds have made the playoffs 11 times and have won 2 World Series since 2000. Also, they are second amongst the 30 MLB teams in all-time championships with 11. The New York Yankees are first with 27 World Series titles.

Selig has been commissioner since 1992, and his reign ends Jan. 25. Rob Manfred is set to take over.

What city do you think is the best baseball town in America?
