The New York City FC revealed their new jerseys Thursday (Nov. 13), and they look really similar to Manchester City’s.
The light blue jerseys are being called City Blue, and the jersey sponsor will be Etihad Airways– the national airline of the United Arab Emirates. NYC FC has a five-year deal with the airline.
Manchester City is the co-owner of NYC FC, and has the same sponsor.
However, NYC FC has its’ own city specific inspiration. The badge is fan-inspired and is based off of New York City subway tokens from the 1950s.
With soccer/fútbol rising in the U.S., it is only right that an MLS team plays in the heart of New York City. The venue will be Yankee Stadium and preseason starts next February.
