After spending one week in intensive care at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborne Medical Center, Olympic swimmer, Amy Van Dyken-Rouen has nothing but smiles on her face during her road to recovery.  She was recently in a tragic ATV accident on June 6 in Show Low, Arizona. “According to reports, the accident caused her spinal cord to sever at the T-11 vertebrae, luckily just missing her aorta.”

The Colorado swimmer has won six gold medals in the Olympic Games and she will be much needed in August 2016 during the summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, although her appearance is doubtful.

It is still unclear if her injuries are permanent. Doctors have yet to answer the biggest question of them all: Will our star Olympian walk again?
