Brazil matches up against Croatia in just 4 days to kickoff this year’s World Cup. There will be plenty of soccer talent in Brazil playing for each country but the big question has been, how strong is the soccer team representing the United States this year, without the previous leader?
It came as a shock that Landon Donovan will not be joing the U.S. soccer team in Brazil this year. “Donovan was left off the World Cup roster, meaning he will miss out on his fourth World Cup so Klinsmann can reward 18-year-old Julian Green for spurning Germany to play for the U.S. National Team.”
There are high hopes for the US soccer as they match up against Ghana in the first round, which in the past has been a strong competitor. The US lost to Ghana 2-1 in 2010 and has never beaten them in a 90’ minute regulation World Cup match. Hopefully with U.S. coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s word, leaving Donovan behind was there best shot at having the strongest team ready for battle. The decision seemed doubtful to some that Klinsmann, “put together a team of 23 without the best player in American history, who has proven he can shine in the bright lights of the World Cup.”
