Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich Gets 1,000th Win

The San Antonio Spurs beat the Indiana Pacers 95-93 Monday night (Feb. 9), earning Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich his 1,000th regular season career win. He has 149 career postseason wins.

Popovich, 66, is no stranger to victory. In his 20th season as the Spurs head coach, Pop has led the franchise to five NBA championships. Another record Pop holds is most consecutive winning seasons in NBA history at 17.

The former Air Force grad now ranks 9th on the all-time wins list. The current all-time leader in wins is legendary coach Don Nelson (1,335).

In winning percentage, Pop ranks second in all major four sports with a .684. Phil Jackson tops the list with a .704.
