Will Ferrell is a huge sports fan.

The actor will be taking part today (Mar. 11) in 8 different Major League Baseball Spring Training games in Arizona…as a player!

Ferrell, 47, will attempt to play ALL 9 positions.

USA TODAY Sports MLB columnist Bob Nightengale took to Twitter yesterday to share the news.

That’s right. A helicopter. Why? Because Will Ferrell takes entertainment seriously.

Baseball is America’s pastime. It’s a sport where fans can not only enjoy the game, but get a few kicks out of a day at the ball park. Spring Training may be the time of year for the players to prepare for the upcoming 162-game season, but laughter is not something that is forbidden from the yard.

And as for Ferrell making a professional sports appearance, this isn’t his first. In in 2010, the comedian took the mound for the Houston Astro’s Triple-A affiliate as the character Billy Ray “Rojo” Johnson.
