On a snowy day in Idaho in January, 2014, NASCAR driver Brian Scott read his wedding vows to the two most important people in his life: bride Whitney Kay and her then 3-year-old daughter Brielle.

The video of the ceremony has resurfaced and is going viral one full calendar year later!

The video is already emotionally hard enough to watch, but when Scott unexpectedly recited vows to what would be his daughter-in-law, you can’t help but get choked up.

Being the most moving part of the ceremony, Scott got down on one knee and told Brielle:

“I promise to always hold your hand and skip with you down the street and bring comfort to your life. I vow to make you say your prayers before you eat. I promise to read you stories at night, to always tuck you in real tight. I vow to show you how a man should treat a woman in my relationship with your mother. And above all else, I vow to protect you, care for you, and love you forever.”

Since the wedding, Scott has been nothing but ecstatic about being a father, saying, “Just being there for [the kids] and enjoying family moments together and playing with them and hearing them laugh and seeing them smile — all of those things are so much better than any of the negative aspects people like to bring up about having kids. It’s not baggage — it’s great addition [to my life].”

The family currently lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, and welcomed a baby boy last November.
