NFL Player Escorts Teen Struggling with Liver Cancer to Prom

18-year-old Khameyea Jennings showed up to her senior prom sporting more than just a pretty dress and a corsage — she rolled up with style in a Lamborghini escorted by handsome NFL player, Sen’Derrick Marks.

Jennings, a student at Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology in Jacksonville, FL, suffers from liver cancer. The high schooler was diagnosed with the disease in 2013, so you can imagine the last few years of school have been tough goings. But Jaguars defensive tackle Sen’Derrick Marks stepped in to make sure the pinnacle of her high school experience, prom night, was still picture perfect.

Marks teamed up with Dreams Come True, a non-profit that helps fulfill the dreams of children who have life-threatening conditions. The NFL player says he wanted to “do something where you actually make someone’s day, to a make a difference in someone’s life.”

So the 300 pound, 6-foot-2 power-house showed up at Jennings’ hospital bed a few days prior to the big night, bearing a bouquet of flowers to make his official promposal.

“I talked with your mom; she said it was OK,” Marks prefaced. “And I heard you had a prom this weekend and I wanted to know if I could take you to prom?” Jennings, who had initially planned on going with her sister, quickly traded her first date in for the NFL star.

The Jaguars tweeted a video of the promposal, which quickly went viral.

The two were greeted with applause and cheers from Khameyea’s classmates when they arrived at the local botanical gardens for the big night.

“She said this is a day to be normal,” Khameyea’s mother told the Florida Times-Union, “not to have to worry about needles, chemo, potassium levels. Just a day to be a teenager and enjoy the prom.”

It looks like Khameyea got her wish.

Nice play Marks.
