Rajon Rondo learned the hard way Tuesday night (Feb. 24) what happens when you don’t listen to your coach– you get benched.
The Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle did not hesitate to sit Rondo after a heated exchange between the two broke out in what included a few obscenities.
As Rondo mopes down the court with the ball, you can clearly see Carlisle instructing the point guard on what to do, however, Rondo seemed to ignore any command.
After calling a timeout, Carlisle said something to Rondo that didn’t seem to sit well with the newly acquired player from the Boston Celtics. Rondo then fired back, prompting Carlisle to bench him.
After the Dallas Mavericks’ 99-92 win over the visiting Toronto Raptors, Carlisle was not in the mood to answer reporter’s questions. Obviously, the frustration from the incident was still on Carlisle’s mind. When asked if Rondo would be the starting point guard for Wednesday night’s game, Carlisle responded, “That’s what we brought him here for.”
Rondo had four points, three fouls and two turnovers when he was pulled in the third quarter.
